Sample TitleErasmus Harvey Elite Performer Sports (678) 416-9368 eliteperformersports@yahoo.com Upcoming Football Camp to bring some of the best high school players to Rome Rome-- Top high school football players from at least three states will descend on Rome in April to compete against one another and catch the eye of college recruiters in a football camp hosted by Elite Performer Sports (EPS). The Elite Performer Sports Football Skills and Competition Camp will be held at Riverview Park here in Rome on Saturday, April 19th. The camp will begin at 9 am and last until 1 pm. All high school football players are eligible for the camp. “We have commitments from some of the top players in Georgia , Alabama and Tennessee , so it should be quite a camp,” said Erasmus Harvey, owner of EPS and a former standout linebacker at Valdosta State University in the early to mid ‘90s. “ Rome is a great place to hold a camp like this because of the talent in this area and it’s proximity to some top programs in Alabama and Tennessee . Players want to measure themselves against the best, and this camp will allow them to just that.” During the camp, players will be timed in the 40-yard dash, broad jump and 5-10-5 pro agility run, just like potential professional players do at the NFL Combine. They will also get a chance to learn from former college standouts like Harvey and current and former NFL players on such things as position instruction, passing and blocking drills and football strategy. “Everything is video recorded, and players will have a chance to purchase their individual package,” said Harvey, who also played professionally in the CFL with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. “The videos will be sent to colleges throughout the US , and this is a great way for these players to get noticed and potentially get a scholarship.” Harvey states that he had more than 40 players show up in an Atlanta area camp the day after the tornado on March 14th, and he expects “at least 100” players for this event. During the camp in Fayetteville , players were able to receive direction from current Atlanta Falcons players David Irons and Travis Williams as well as former collegiate players, and campers here in Rome will receive the same type of direction. The fee for the camp is $75 per person before April 11th and $100 afterward. Walk-ups are welcome. “The players from this area ( Rome , Cedartown, Cartersville, Dalton , etc.) have a chance to come out and show everyone what type of players they have here,” said Harvey, a Sumter County native who also wants to donate proceeds from these camps to Sumter Regional Hospital, which was destroyed by a tornado last year. “Some of the players who attended the camp in March are going to attend, and we are expecting players from Chattanooga and East Alabama as well. The investment of time and money is very small when considering that this could lead to a $75,000 to $100,000 scholarship, so I hope everyone who is eligible comes and takes advantage of this opportunity.” For more information on the camp, please contact Coach Harvey at (678) 416-9368 or via e-mail at eliteperformersports@yahoo.com.
